Mark Ramsey

Mark Ramsey is a lawyer, investment banker, funds manager and developer. He worked as a commercial lawyer and litigator for 15 years before joining Macquarie Group Limited in 1997.

In his early years at Macquarie, Mark established and was Managing Director and Chairman of the Global Infrastructure Fund (Macquarie’s first private equity infrastructure fund) and the High Yield Infrastructure Debt Trust. He raised and was Chairman of Macquarie’s first unlisted infrastructure funds outside Australia. He established the Korean Roads Infrastructure Fund in South Korea and the South Africa Infrastructure Fund, a joint venture with Old Mutual in South Africa.

From 2003 to 2007 Mark was Global Head of Private Placement for the Investment Banking Group.
Mark moved to Mexico in 2008 as President of Macquarie Mexico, where he raised the Macquarie Mexico Infrastructure Fund and headed both Macquarie Capital and MIRA. In Mexico, Macquarie Capital advised various local investors (including the Carlos Slim owned Grupo Carso and FEMSA Coca Cola) on energy and infrastructure initiatives and developed the then largest wind farm in Latin America, in Oaxaca, Mexico.

In 2013 Mark moved to New York as Head of Macquarie Capital Latin America. In 2014 he became Chairman and CEO of the Macquarie Development Corporation, a joint venture owned by Macquarie, a Brazilian Investment Bank (Banco Modal) and a Chinese SOE (China Communications Construction Corporation). Macquarie Development Corporation was formed to invest in and develop renewable energy development initiatives in South America.
Mark was based in New York until he retired from Macquarie at the end of 2018. During his 21 years with Macquarie he initiated, advised on and invested in many deals in transport, energy, renewables, communications and other sectors, establishing deep relationships with constructors, politicians, bankers, investors and stakeholders.
Since returning to live in Australia Mark has been a Director and CEO of Vecor Technologies, a research and commercialization company specialized in ceramics, ceramic composites and advanced materials.
